SENIOR DESIGNER
The primary role of a Senior Designer is to support the more experienced design staff in developing projects and executing PDC design standards while contributing constructively to the firm.
This position requires a minimum of 35 hours per week with occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
Job functions and responsibilities include :
Correspond with vendors, fabricators, and high-end clientele in a professional manner and with discretion.
Provide creative ideas and design solutions for projects to align with the determined aesthetic, the client needs and budgetary goals.
Collaborating on design tasks including creative studies, selecting appropriate finish materials, samples, and products for projects.
Produce complete and accurate documentation for presentation and for construction purposes as required for projects. This includes detailed floorplans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, finish plans, section details, and custom furniture drawings in CAD.
Produce 3D renderings of the intended design in Sketchup.
Produce accurate and complete specifications for products and materials according to PDC standards. This task requires independent and accurate research and direct, effective communication with vendors and manufacturers.
Assist in meetings and preparation of visual materials according to PDC standards and project timelines.
Ability to set up and maintain project files, materials & schedules in an organized way.
Assist in purchasing and procurement for projects. This includes obtaining accurate quotes for in stock or highly customized products, checking project budgets, preparing PO’s, placing orders, tracking purchases, and coordinating deliveries.
Scheduling, supervising, and performing installations as the project requires.
Maintaining up to date information and records in Studio Designer systems.
Run project-related errands such as shopping for products, dropping samples to vendors or mailing packages.
Assist with installation which may involve lifting and moving small furniture or climbing a small ladder.
Able to travel to project sites nationally or locally when needed.
Collaborate with upper-level designers to support projects in all phases.
Execute PDC standards in all deliverables and process.
Receive and provide constructive feedback as part of the team.
Contribute to the overall culture and success of PDC
Desired skills & experience :
Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, SketchUp.
Must be proficient in Studio Designer or have the ability to learn quickly.
Have excellent written and oral presentation skills to communicate effectively.
Has worked as a mid to senior level designer for at least 6 years.
Has the ability to work individually or in a small team.
Ability to be guided and directed by other lead designer and/or supervisor. Learn and follow PDC processes and procedures.
Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to follow up on a multitude of tasks.
Maintain a strong sense of color, creativity and knowledge regarding material and product appropriateness.
Confident in presentations and discussions in meetings with clients or other team members.
Ability to plan, organize, and complete work effectively and efficiently.
Demonstrate decisiveness, honesty, integrity and accountability.
Clear judgment and creative problem-solving abilities.
Must have excellent time management and a reliable car.
